Re: C4 monoscoca
Is there a section missing between the two parts? I am asking because of the step in cross-section between the two ends.
The interior is not what I expected with that buckled appearance. Are you going to construct a new muzzle for it? Last edited by popgun pete; 03-23-2020 at 04:10 PM. |

Hello pete. Like you, I did not expect to see that. there was nothing else inside it looks like a winding like a carbon "micarta" but it is irregular. I'm going to make a new muzzle in G10 a bit like the last gladius. I'm also going to change the grip to anatomical. |

Re: C4 monoscoca
The new muzzle will need sealing to keep water out of the hollow gun body, how do you plan on doing that?

I did suspect it was the “balloon” or bladder as it is called in composites construction. This internal bladder is pressurized to help compact the layup and set it fully in the mold during curing and it’s not entirely uncommon to leave it inside. Super lightweight structures like racing bikes normally don’t leave the bladder inside but on a speargun the slight weight increase doesn’t matter.
It was hard to tell in the previous pics but now the bladder is out how would you say the laminate looks? Is the wall thickness even? Any bulges or obvious voids? And congrats on finding the courage for the modification. Maybe more will be doing the same now:-) Plugging the barrel should be easy. I’d make sure the bladder was removed and then make a small plug with some foam perhaps and then either pour in a bit of fiber filled epoxy or even glass in a few layers of cloth. Re: C4 monoscoca
Exactly, I'm going to make a plug with two-component PU expanding foam, then I will pour a little fiber-loaded epoxy and I will stick the piece with a tenon to secure the bonding.
The structure of the carbon frame is very beautiful, I will make you a photo |

Re: C4 monoscoca
the inside membranes should be the remnants of the bladder used to shape the scocca, in the mold.
