question about older euro and bands

hey guys i am new to the forum and relatively new to spearfishing. i hav only been on one dive and have aquired an older euro style gun and it needs new bands. the existing muzzle will accept both the screw in bands and it has a loop at the front for the loop bands and i was wondering if it would be ok to use one of each so the gun would have two bands. would this be safe or not? the question i had was that the gun was designed for one band and i dont know if the trigger will handle the extra load of two bands? any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Re: question about older euro and bands

It depends. What gun is it (name, brand, material) and how long is it? We need to know this to answer your question.
There are many variables: in order to hold the double band set, as you said it must have a strong trigger mechanism, a big mass to endure the recoil, a strong barrell to avoid bending and a reasonable length because extra-power on a very short gun wouldn't make much sense.
And so tell us more about the gun, then we'll discuss...

I dont know the brand but the gun is about 24 inches in length and the barrel seems to be about 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick

Spaghetti!

I hope you wont mind if I revive an old thread. Lets say that the gun in question is the one in these photos. Then what do you say about the bands.

Besides giving it away to a nephew or orphan, what would you do with this gun (regarding the bands?) I have adapters for the screw on now.? But should I just use the loop on the muzzle for a diy 16mm ish band? Is this gun strong enough for two 16mm or two 14mm sets of bands? (one in the loop and one on the adapters?

Thanks !
