Re: mares phantom

It should take any euro shaft if I'm not mistaken. I was looking at the same gun and considered a Rob Allen shaft and dyneema wishbones. Many people reported that the Mares shafts were pretty weak. If you want to stick with articulated wishbone, there are a lot of other notched shafts out there from Omer, etc. I've seen direct replacement shafts for the Phantom, but I am not sure where.

Re: mares phantom

I read today that the Mako shafts come from Rob Allen. Maybe someone can verify this. I have one on my gun and the fit and finish seems pretty good. If it really is from RA, a lot of people report that they are incredibly strong.

Re: mares phantom

I like the thinner shaft better so I got the 6.5 mm for my 75 phantom. For the 95 cm I would get the 7 mm@ 130 cm long or 140 cm long if u want a little longer shaft over hang. Mini shark fins are fine. I make my own bands with the wishbone I got from them also and it's fine. Hope this help. Dive safe.

It sounds like it will work fine. So far, I've shot mine into the rocks quite a few times and you can't really tell other than losing a bit of of the black coating.
