Tampa Bay Spearfishing Challenge weather policy

The officers of the Tampa Bay Spearfishing Club (TBSC) wanted me to post the weather policy for the Tampa Bay Spearfishing Challenge. Last year there were a few shooters that did not know how the final decision is decided. Here it is...

First, we have to make decisions on official weather predictions. We use the printed version for the NOAA National Weather Service Marine forecast. Since, we have shooters who are pre-registered from as far away as the East coast of Florida, the Keys, and as far West as Mississippi, and local shooter who have to plan and prepare on Friday, we must make the call within a timely manner. With this in mind, we need to make the call close enough to the dive day to garner as much accuracy with the weather forecast from the our official government weather site.

Therefore, the TBSC tournament committee will make the call after 5pm on Thursday April 11th. As long as the NOAA National Marine Service Weather printed prediction DOES NOT call for small craft advisories for Saturday April 13th, the tournament is a GO!

We will post the decision in this thread and pre-registered shooters and all others can also call (727) 344-3483 on Friday from 11am to 7pm to get the final weather decision.

The location for the final call is:
TARPON SPRINGS TO SUWANNEE RIVER OUT 20 NM-
ENGLEWOOD TO TARPON SPRINGS OUT 20 NM-
BONITA BEACH TO ENGLEWOOD OUT 20 NM-
The Website is: NOAA WEATHER

As of today the forecast is improving for Saturday:
