Need Advice (and a report) for PV
We are thinking of diving PV this saturday. It's a liittle bit of a drive so instead of making a potential 4hr rnd trip for nothing I was hoping to get some feedback.
With the big swell is PV vis holding up? Would it be worth the trip up on saturday(since san diego is looking horrible!)? Thanks. |

I was planning to do the same.... is it worth the trip??? purely my guess, but PV seems like the most sheltered. I know that doesn't help. But I don't like the rough stuff. (insert joke here)

Re: Need Advice (and a report) for PV
I was diving PV last Saturday, just a touch south of the light house.
9-11am. Was pretty rough. The entry and exit banged the hell out of me and my gear, but it's pretty rocky there. After about an hour I got nauseous because of the constant waves up and down motion. Visibility about 5-7'. Not much life. I have seen other dive boats, but they left pretty quick. I'll try Malibu this weekend. |

It 'Seems' like the most protected area. In fact, with the right swell it gets hammered, and real fast.

A big south like that tears up PV. I'd wait til it settles and then go.

Yeah just dove there yesterday afternoon and the swell had already picked up and the vis was 7 feet at the best. I was on a boat but if your going to shore dive I would think twice about it if you are anywhere south of dominators. PV gets hammered if there is any W at all in the swell, and from what I heard it is SSW so wait until the waves subside.
