Thanks for post. Glad you got out and had some fun. Plan to dive Sat, but not in tourney. Excited to get back out there.
ROFL - I had forgotten about that! Well, guess I joined the club.

Thought that was pretty funny as well! Based off your video the Goliath curse was a bit extreme I'd say. May the pendulum swing back your direction next dive trip!

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

24 nm out of JP just N of due west in 80 fsw nice blue water through the column with two distinct thermoclines. 86 degrees at the surface and 77 degrees on the bottom. Viz was 25-40’ at times. Shot two scamp and 3 nice hogfish and a big fat lionfish. Surfaced to a couple cells merging and moving sse with occasional lightening. Decided to come in to a number north and east in 55 fsw and found green water with lots of particulate. No thermocline and less fish activity probably been visited already. Viz was 10-15’ horizontal at best. Did locate the large resident turtle under the ledge. Picked out the two best hogfish and called it a day.

My new favorite second only to trigger fish, lionfish ceviche.

Saturday out of Bayport, hazy visibility in all depths through 65 feet. Rock piles in 55ft were hit or miss. Some were loaded

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Headed NW out of Anclote this weekend. Started in 45' and found some nice gags, mangos and a green 20' horizontal vis. Moved out to 55' and found a significant current, milky 20-25' vis on the bottom and some nice hogs. Came back in to 35 and found TTB vis (on slack tide), our last couple gags and some bonus flounder. Had a great day with slick calm seas, good vis and lots of fish. Enjoyed the fruits of our labor last night with my 2 favorite Gulf dishes; hogfish ceviche and BBQ bacon wrapped grouper cheeks.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

20 miles NW of Anclote just barely top to bottom vis in 50fow, horizontal around 20-25. Back in to 35fow and water was clogged with whale snot, vis down to 5ft. It was too spooky for me to carry fish around in so I opted to H&L from the boat while Bonedaddio poked around the murk.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Yup, amusing myself by losing and finding one of my diving fins...DOH! Thanks to Eibwen for letting me use the rest of his tank. Really great dive buddy!
It was really "snot" nice down there... but I just love to dive and had no fish on my stringer... trying to locate mangos in the murk was "oh, there's one... oh, already too late, he's almost invisible, now he's gone, no shot..."
I almost stepped on a nice flounder when we hit the bottom, and then never saw another one.
I'm looking forward to the water clarity improvement later in the season!

Nice gag and didn't have to go far to get it! Time of day must have something to do with it. This past Mon in 35 fow it was impossible to see anything.
