Touch screen with dive gloves?

Getting a new gps/sounder...Anyone have a recommendation or advice on touch screen vs no touch screen considering using dive gloves? I am skeptical but reviews asay the new technology allows the touch screens to be fully operational with wet dive gloves

I’m putting a Garmin 1042 on my boat. I think touch screens are not so good for boats(ever use your iPhone while someone is driving)

I would have agreed with you...
In the past...
But....
My buddy has two Garmin touch screens on his boat....
We're out spearing allot on that boat...
And Now I realize how wrong I was about touch screens!

If I ever replace my unit, it will be touch screen.

Re: Touch screen with dive gloves?

A lot of Touch screens probably won't work with gloves, but I did see some cut-resistant non-slip gloves at Home Depot the other day that are designed to work with capacitive touchscreens like a phone/tablet. Not sure if the chartplotters are capacitive or another tech.

Home Depot SKU # 1001251845

Re: Touch screen with dive gloves?

It's not a problem. The wetter the glove the better and the screen isn't at all like your smart phone that will go haywire when wet.

Had mine for 3 years now. Garmin svx12

Re: Touch screen with dive gloves?

My works fine with my gloves on for the most part. I actually have more of an issue when my bare hands are soaking wet. Also is effected if you have large droplets on the screen obviously

Re: Touch screen with dive gloves?

Used my Garmin 741xs almost exclusively with wet dive gloves. No issues.
