Float line coloring

I purchased a blue float line awhile back for general freedive spearing trips. I chose blue for stealthiness while hunting spooky blue water fish. Well now I don't live near blue water and if I d it very difficult to see the blue float line in the ocean (go figure). As I hunt reefs I would like to be able to spot this line underwater. A bright color would be nice. I have tried using spray paint but it wore off and became a pain. Any ideas for painting, staining, bleaching, magic, to change the blue color?
Thanks in advance

Re: Float line coloring

Put another vinyl line / sheath over top??

It won't be easy and might take a tonne of talcum powder???

White or yellow will show up great... Might be easier selling blue and buying white?

Home depot... You have to go to the electrical dept and find the display of expensive tape. They have blue, green and YELLOW. put a few inches of yellow tape about every 10-15 feet. It shows up pretty well.

Re: Float line coloring

Cool. I'm thinking an option would be the tape route. However I know what happens to things like tape when exposed to sea water. I'm thinking the tape with some aqua seal over it may work. High viz orange would be nice.
Thanks!

Message josh at Neptonics , he used to spray camo float lines with some spray paint , you could not get the paint off the tubeing at all once it dryed , it might have been the crylon brand paint made spicificly for plastic .

Re: Float line coloring

Try Heat shrink, Get White and Black. Think about lines of contrast ( e.g. 12 inch of white, add 1/2" black rings on top spaced out by 1 inch) Could use for depth marking too.

As for colors. Remember basics of Rainbow, or visible light spectrum. ( ROYGBIV )

At depth the water will block the Reds, then Orange,Yellow , etc.

This is concept of Red float lines. On surface it reflects Red so it looks Red, at depth the water blocks the light wave lengths in that area so it no longer reflects reds for there is no red light. Go google visible spectrum and water absorption for more info.

Think contract not just color. A White object reflects all the light, a black object doesn't.

Lots of Fish see farther into the UV spectrum. so if you are going Camo, have line / item absorb UV. If you are making like Fishing Lures or Flashers, then you would want a UV reflector. Got to think outside of visible spectrum us humans see.

Re: Float line coloring

I never look at my floatline underwater, Im looking for fish. For the pain in the ass it will be, maybe better to worry about it.

Re: Float line coloring

Electrical tape works well once you spread a drop of super glue/krazy glue at the tag end of the tape to hold it in place
