Weight Vest

Anybody know of a set up where I can find a weight vest with a ditchable weight system. I saw it somewhere before that there is a setup like that. Only thing I'm finding out right now is the weight and belt combo where you put half of your weight on the belt and half on the vest just in case of ditching scenarios. I saw the Omer ones but they are not ditchable.

Thanks guys,
Mike

Re: Weight Vest

duct boy wears a back pack type weight system when freediving for abolone, you might pm him and ask who the manufacturer is .

Re: Weight Vest

Is this the one you had in mind? I haven't used it, but a guy on my boat did.

Re: Weight Vest

I had an omer one and it was ditchable. Three quick snaps across the chest and it was gone. Not the fastest but I didn't ever feel it was unsafe. However I don't know if I would wear it ab diving in heavy kelp. I bought it for blue water.

Re: Weight Vest

i have ben using the seasoft one for about 2 years i love it and would never go back to a belt
i modified mine to fit a camel back inside and i put some shot in the comberbund to make it balance right. i plan to put all the weight in a bag with a bass marker float atached so u could self recover the weight (that would remove any Q about droping the weight)

Re: Weight Vest

I use the DUI Weight & Triim 2, for ab, spear, and scuba. I think it is the single best piece of dive gear I own.

With the camelback attached, did you have to compensate for it? (like when it's full and when it's empty) Does it make a big difference?

it shouldnt make any difference as long as there is no air in the bladder.

Re: Weight Vest

I'm probably too late, but I have one of the seasoft free packs as well. But I don't use it anymore, switched to a different harness. But I'll sell my seasoft harness also if anyone wants it. Same price as Baja I guess.
