Suzuki Df 250 Issues. Read this if you have them!
I have 2 Suzuki df250 engines with 1200 hours on them. I read on The Hull Truth where the engines were blowing up due to the butterfly valve screws and plates being ingested into the engine.
I checked mine and 5 of the 12 butterfly valve screws were loose. The plates were flapping around and it was just about time where they would let loose. I red loctited all the screws. This should solve this problem. Another thing to check is the internal zincs in the power head, If you don't change them the water passages in the block/head could corrode thru and the engine is then junk. |

Re: Suzuki Df 250 Issues. Read this if you have them!
What year are your motors... 1800 hours on mine which is a 2004. I've replaced the anodes 3 times over 11 years. The 250s and I assume most all their motors are coated internally to help prevent build up. Not heard any issue with corrosion on the 250 being terminal but the older 140s had a problem with a casting plug with dissimilar metal that caused a big problem for a while. Personally I think the 250 series will go down as one of the most reliable outboard ever produced.
