Who is Bob Zales?
I'll get him to write up a little bio for us.
He is a charter boat/head boat owner operator who has been actively involved in the Council process for years. Bob is the one who introduced the me to all of the Council members at my first Council meeting. His knowledge of the Council issues is phenomenal and his knowledge of fish stocks and individaul fisheries is amazing.
More promo for Bob later today. I have to get going to the longline buyout meeting to see if I am even allowed inside. Seems as though the leader of the buyout doesn't really care to have me there.

The long liners are also proposing a "shallow water grouper endorsement" that would prohibit 58-60% of the current reef permit holders actively working from fishing grouper based on the relatively small volume of their landings. This cuts out the mom and pop verticals and spearos and leaves more for them.

If they get the buyout framed the way they desire, long line pressure on our reefs will expand, not contract, and their political power will become even more firmly entrenched. This cannot be allowed.
