Tragic, but..

"We ask that everyone join us in our campaign to create safety measures, and appropriate regulations for the use of spear guns."

no way we need new regulations.

I'm going to dishonor Jarred's memory and say f**k no to new regulations. Seriously this family has no clue.

Very sad, and the family fallen into a typical reaction, caught in grief, they are shifting blame, as if this is the 'cliche' "Guns Kill People"
Let's not give further (wider) publicity towards this tragic accident.

That's exactly it. Tragic.. but rather than accept the responsibility and move on they fixate on an inanimate object and assign all blame to it(which can't defend itself and make excuses the way a human will).

We all know this already... but if you NEVER point a gun(any kind) at anything you don't intend to shoot, you will never accidentally/negligently shoot anyone (or anything) if you follow that simple rule.

Re: Man shot in head with spear gun dies

Tragic, truly. I do not wish to dishonor his death or insult his family, but this should not be a precursor to new legislation regarding spear fishing.

The laws for spearing are strict enough as is, and this is truly a dangerous sport. We are all (Hopefully) aware of the risks we take when we get into the water to spear fish, and I like to imagine this young man (and his friend) was aware of the dangers involved with the sport.

But all i have to say is that we do not need any new regulations, as gear discrimination has already taken its toll on the sport in addition to accidents such as this, as tragic as they are.

Accidents happen, and this one had the worst possible outcome. Yet, after i heard this story, (And knew what the fallout may be) I wondered to myself: How many times has someone accidentally been shot by a bow and arrow? A cross bow? A Firearm? Hell, a blow gun? I will be watching what comes after this story, i fear even more insane limitations and laws regarding spearfishing will follow. I also have a feeling that they will affect shore divers the most.

My condolences to the family and his friends, may he rest in peace.
