Looks like the locals weren't the only ones sporting the local swimwear.

Re: Spearfishing in Brazil
Petra, great post. Looks like you guys had a blast. I also grew a great appreciation for our waters when I went to Hawaii a few weeks back, talk about overfished! Now I really appreciate when someone looks puzzled when I tell them I spearfish. Lets make sure we dont let the secret out. Otherwise it will be like in Hawaii were spearguns and slings are sold in grocery stores, pharmacys, and convenience stores.

Re: Spearfishing in Brazil
In São Paulo province North shores, since Rio de Janeiro boarder to Maresias beach and "bealtyfull Island" (Ubatuba-Caraguatatuba-São Sebastião). Around Santos/Guarujá is hard to find clear water close to the coast, but there are pinnacles far from coast. More to the south there is the "Big Queimada Island". Better go by boat to find better fishing . Abçs Last edited by Spear.Doc; 06-15-2011 at 09:31 AM. |

Re: Spearfishing in Brazil
Travel is good.
Looks from your pictures like the Currents were wrong.. when the currents are from the South it Blues up there and the diving can be good. A friend has a Restaurant there with some nice old photos of diving in Buzios called Bar Do Ze. Great place. Alllllllllllllllllllllll about the currents.. brown and cold or Blue and Warm..

Re: Spearfishing in Brazil
Yes, in Rio de Janeiro province it is just like that, South wind/currents = clear water.
East/Noth-east wind/current = cold dark water. |
