Big eye emperor
This is a big one in Guam (5.25 lbs.). They are tough to shoot. My friend Jay got this one on a dive bomb. I think it was a miracle.

Like 70 ft. or so. Jay got htis 40 pound trevally at 97 ft. He's getting pretty good at diving.

Re: Big eye emperor
They are not called widowmakers for nothing! A long breath hold, or bombing them seem to be the only ways you will get them. They are one of the few fish I know that can dodge a spear too! I love chasing them, but don't get too many. Areas that haven't been speared as much they are a lot easier. Great fish

Re: Big eye emperor
Ok divebombing and getting a fish like that is one way to get a trophy. Nothing more fun or satisfying than whispering one in and letting him have it. Nice fish!

Re: Big eye emperor
Aloha Gerald,
Nice fish! Come on over here, we have big ones. Shot a 15.5 lb and 13 lb one years ago and have been trying to break 11 lbs ever since. They are my favorite fish to shoot. ANy mU in any size is a trophy in my book. they are the hardest fish to hunt of any fish I have hunted. Heres a nice one I shot a month ago. I'll post a story on it in the Hawaii section later. Aloha,Daryl |
