Re: SLO Dive Conditions

Probably 8-10ft. Anyone diving Unocal lately? Noticed a nice kelp patty to the south.

Re: SLO Dive Conditions

Dove Cayucos back on 6/18. Kelp was super thick in shallow, but the deeper kelp beds aren't present at the moment for some reason. Vis was maybe 6-8 feet on the surface down to about 15 feet, but dropped to maybe 2 feet below that due to some sort of algae bloom. Scratched together a stringer of kelpies and black and yellows for my wife's family. Good times all in all.

Yeah I noticed that too in Pismo, kelp is only growing in the shallows ... weird.

Gonna try to get in on Monday ... anyone been to Schooners lately?

Is there much to see around the pier? I've wandered over there a few times when diving the kelp beds nearby, but always found it to be sandy bottom without much life, at least in closer to the shore. Its fun when the seals come say hello though.

Not much to see, mostly sand all the way out. There are some small rock ledges about 1/3 of the way out but I usually get away from the pier n dive under the kelp as well. Depending on the tide, sand, kelp n viz, I've shot a stringer full of kelpies around the pilings but it is mostly bare

Re: SLO Dive Conditions

Inside Morro bay was super clear this afternoon. Big Sur should be good. Where the hell where the 6-8 sets? It's like waist high in north Morro. Must be some good sand bars.

Re: SLO Dive Conditions

Thinking about coming up early for the holiday to try to sneak in a dive on Tuesday and/or Wed. Any viz reports for Shell Beach, PSL, MDO or anywhere in between?

Re: SLO Dive Conditions

I was only walking with my family on the bluffs on Sunday- but I could see structure out in the middle of the cove from the cliffs- it was painful...
