I had almost the same set up. In my case, the impeller pulled hard enough that it wasn't necessary - no water came out the other opening unless the engine was off.

I close the thru-hull valve, open the big brass sea strainer that is is after the "t" that combines the outdrive pickup and thru hull pick up, i shove the hose in there (I should just tap the lid and put fitting in)...and I flush from there.

If you use a Groco ARG strainer (ARG-1250 or 1500) you can leave the thru hull open. On the ARG the outlet to the engine is lower than the inlet from the drive.

On a Bravo (no water pump in the drive like the alpha) you just unscrew the cap, toss the hose in and start the engine. All of the excess water will go out the intake and out the thru hull.

Re: California Dive Boats -'91 26 ft Wilson

Going to be picking up this boat in the next few weeks. Any info on the aluminum fuel tank builder would be helpful. There are two saddle tanks, one has standing water against it, inside the Pilothouse. I might be having to cut one or both out. It was built at Precision Marine Goleta in '91. She was Deborah K, from 92 t0 04, then Resurgence going forward.

Love it when Don builds one without that 6" thick caprail.
