Flatties mate

Wind and waves were up and vis looked average so we decided to dive in the river about a 1/4 mile from the mouth. Being close to the ocean the vis can be surprisingly good on an incoming tide. Dove the breakwater in 20' of water with only about 10 ft of vis (not good but doable) and found some good sized flathead.

People like to give each other shit for taking the big ones which are female and breeders and supposedly don't taste as good as the smaller fish. We dont target these fish very often and I certainly wasnt going to pass up one of these for the tiny ones we saw.

My friend shot a 4 Kg fish which is a damn big flathead by any standard. A delicious fish that is fun to hunt when the ocean is too rough.
