Re: Missing fishermen

I heard about this last night. My prayers for a safe return are underway.

Their parents must be in horrible despair and grief.

Re: Missing fishermen

Holy crap, a 50k reward if bringing back the kids alive! I sincerely hope these naive kids get home safely. Very sad.

Re: Missing fishermen

It is a 19 foot boat so its safe to assume its unsinkable.

Make sure your marine radio is functioning, have a PLB that has a battery which can be relied on, make sure all your thru-hull fittings are metal.

its a older sea craft and is most certainly sinkable.I have known Austin since he was in diapers, he's very competent on the boat. However the storm that rolled through at 1PM was pretty nasty and for a small boat of shore, pretty dangerous... Anyone up to canaveral is encouraged to keep your eye out.

Re: Missing fishermen

Very sad, that storm that caught them was one of the nastiest I've seen this year. Hope they are already found or about to be

Re: Missing fishermen

Looks like the CG found their boat off the Cape. No mention of boys yet

Re: Missing fishermen

Wow. It sounds like they were a couple experienced Huckleberry Finns. I'm hoping there zest for experience didn't get out of control. Reminds me of myself that age. The thing is that it's much safer these days with the instant weather reporting.
Sounds like they were heading for the Bahamas. Sad that they didn't provide a float plan, their parents are certainly worried sick. I hope this ends good.

Re: Missing fishermen

There were no jackets on the boat when they found it. I'm willing to bet the have their gear and some floating items with them of some sort. Finding the boat is key to the CG for finding them. I am cautiously optimistic at this time they will be found with a story to tell.

Re: Missing fishermen

I'm with you Moose. What worries me is time spent in the water, as divers we know that even a couple hours in the water can fatigue someone. Exposure and time are the enemy right now
