Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

NEED IMMEDIATE HELP

was drilling a new hole in my mask to add a quick release mount for my go pro and left the plastic a little thin and at risk of cracking and losing the whole camera.

what can i use to strengthen the remaining plastic??

i am meeting someone tomorrow morning to dive so i'm hoping to make the fix tonight and let it set overnight, but i don't have much in terms of materials, etc.

i have 100% silicone caulk, wetsuit cement and super glue. i'm not kidding.

any McGyvers out there??

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

JB Weld---is a 2 part epoxy. Is what I used and it has worked great for 12 days in the water so far. get it at Home Depot or Kmart or WalMart.
Hope this helps

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

Hau,

Don't stress, go by Home Depot and pick up some plastic epoxy. They sell it in the paint department. You can either get 5 minute or 15 minute. This means how fast it will set. 1st I would wipe the area with rubbing alcohol to get the silicone from manufacturing off. Then squeeze out the epoxy and mix with a small screwdriver, as this is two parts. Put it on and give it a few to set up and away you go.

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

Good advice above.
Also adding a thin washer inside could help spread the load on that area.
Let us know how it went.

luckily that didn't happen in the water yesterday
it actually didn't work with your mount so i'm going to look at the list of masks that do work and get one of those

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

just a thought for anyone who uses a mask mount:

if you can't always hear the beeps and you are trying to figure out if your go pro is on or off, use the glass face of your dive watch as a mirror to check it.

it's very simple but i never thought of it until now!
