Technical Spearfishing Technical Scuba diving is generally defined as going deeper than 130 feet. You must have the proper training for this extreme aspect of spearfishing. |

Re: How deep on air?
It's funny how this thread has come full circle for me.
I have had the pleasure to dive with Tony(spearmax) and every time, he does a drop to 230 feet lookin for these elusive wreck denizens. He dives on air, has an air backup and scrubs with 60% nitrox. Its 20 minutes on the bottom, 40 minutes deco and he shoots monster fish while at it. Not once in a while, not once a month, every time... That in my book is what u call badass! |

Re: How deep on air?
I'd believe the 230' and run times before I'd believe Tony shoots a big fish every time

Re: How deep on air?
I Don't care what anyone believes. I am the one dropin him and recovering him after the dive. I get to see the wreck and epth on the ffinder.
No he doesn't shoot a fish every dive, but when he does it is big. Samson. The dive is max depth of 230. I'm sure the avg depth profile is less. Last week he shot and subdued a huge fish on the sand. He dives the same dive every time. 20 bottom/40 deco. Period! Last edited by Bulit7; 04-08-2011 at 10:18 AM. |

Re: How deep on air?
Have any of you guys read Sheck Exley's book "Caverns Measureless to Man"?
There are some pretty amazing stories of these guys diving air to some pretty amazing depths. Plenty of stories of fatalities as well...

Re: How deep on air?
Wow, some interesting posts. Although Mike’s comments are a bit strong, he is right on. Bulit7, regardless of your self taught skills, going into the Tech arena requires proper training. You simply don’t know what you don’t know! Everybody else, please don’t enable this guy with advise on how to kill himself.

Re: How deep on air?
Man, I finally made it to the end of this thread.
It came up after doing a search for OMS doubles. I have a set of 66's set up that I have never used, and am thinking of selling them. WTH, I'll just start tech diving again... |
