Economical Hydro Prices?

I have one PST HP100 that needs hydro and I'm having sticker shock! Is $80 the going rate to get an O2 clean tank back from hydro with a NITROX fill?

If not, where is a good place to go on the Treasure Coast?

Re: Economical Hydro Prices?

$45 in Orlando with fill including tumbling & inside rust preventative coating, but a bit far for you.

With PST tanks, I'd 1st find a hydro tester that agrees to follow the PST Bulletin D100-E procedures since many hydro facilities won't agree to follow it. Most everyone are selling their PST's because the are out of the business and slow to renew their DOT exemption making them unfillable.

Treasure coast dive center is either $35 or $40 with fill.

Thank you! Just got off the phone with them - $52 out the door is their price ($40 for hydro/VIP plus $12 for NiTROX fill)

Re: Economical Hydro Prices?

United Fire Protection in Orlando did a bunch for me a while back for $28 bucks each.

You have to bring them to them with the valve off. Ditto on what Johnoly said on the PST procedure though.

Gary, then you can bring it to me along with my favorite six pack and I'll blast you a nitrox fill.

Oh, and O2 clean is a bunch of crap unless you will be putting O2 in it.

Re: Economical Hydro Prices?

ST a lot of shops put 100% O2 in the tanks to blend nitrox before putting air on top...a properly tumbled, cleaned sealed/conditioned tank is not crap......I used to feel the same way. However after standing next to 100s of potential bombs while they filled performing visuals I have changed my mind. I have seen where 02 flashes have happened. Respectfully I disagree.......... what is a waste is a little simple green and a quick rinse. Someone charges for that, then its a rip off. Capt Gene please weigh in.

Re: Economical Hydro Prices?

You are not disagreeing with me, like I said, "unless you are putting O2 in it", ie partial pressure fill.
