Re: The San Marcos River Spearfishing Tournament
I am a bit taken aback, after receiving a scathing private message from the event organizer demanding an apology for indirectly referring to the San Marcus River as a "creek". Rethinking my involvement in the event.
I'd still have fun meeting up with some of you guys to scout and spear beforehand some weekend. I wore out my first wetsuit sliding over rocks and logs in the creeks..er rivers up north. |

Sometimes a little thick skin is needed. I'll be hunting on the two middle slots on the 10th--would enjoy meeting y'all.

Re: The San Marcos River Spearfishing Tournament
I won't be able to make it, the slots available will not work with me.
This is a pretty stupid way to set up a spearing tourney if they are wanting a large participation... |

It is probably a rule by the city that they don't want more than one person on a certain stretch at the same time to avoid people spearing each other ... I have mon we'd from middle slots |

Re: The San Marcos River Spearfishing Tournament
I'll be there 12-8 for the afternoon and late slots and the morning of 12-9. Depending on the weather the late/early slots might not be too bad. The San Marcos is spring fed from in town and is supposed to be 72 degrees year round. Not that that'll help much if the air temp is low but keeping my fingers crossed for a mild Texas winter, at least on those days. Also have a dive buddy signed up in the same slots.
Picked up a Gatku sixer for the event. Now just need to get in the water and practice. I've only used a Hawaiian sling and speargun. |

Re: The San Marcos River Spearfishing Tournament
Gaudi and myself went today and hit the river around i35 water was nice air temp (50ish) had little to no effect on us. Vis was 5-10 ft and we killed the hell out of some plecostomus. Filled a stringer (probably 30 fish) and missed twice that many in 3 hours just going with the current. The areas that will be open for this event should be so much better and we had a blast! I expect everyone to have a great time regardless of the pīss poor planning of this thing.
