Trimix fill prices?

I'm not trimix certified but I was talking to a guy thatis today. I asked him what a fill cost. He said doubles were around $180??? This was for 104 doubles.

Is that an average price? He said helium prices had gone up. I can believe that but the guys selling ballons must be hurtin' at that price.

Re: Trimix fill prices?

$100 for a set of doubles I would say. Maybe some places are higher.

Re: Trimix fill prices?

Fowler, check out this place for some market rates. They are way south of me so I do not go there. But, they publish prices here at this link:

http://www.fillexpress.com/fills.shtml

One way to look at it might be if your buddy has 208 cubes total in the doubles to fill and the normoxic trimix rate is 35 cents per cube it would cost $72.80.

That is 35% helium in the normoxic mix. Note that the pure helium cube rate is 75 cents so if he wanted 60-70% helium for a hypoxic mix good to say 300 feet, I guess it would cost approximately twice the $72.80 or about $125-$145.

Does this rough calculation make sense without me running the v-planner software?

Re: Trimix fill prices?

I paid $64.00 for a doubles fill of 20/25 a couple of months back at chattahoochee scuba but we were told then prices of helium were going up and the next fill may be more.

Re: Trimix fill prices?

Hi guys,

When you buy Trimix at my shop, I charge .60 per CF of Helium for a fill, and the o2 is .10 per CF. Air top is free.

Ie. Twin 130's = 260CF of gas, 21/30 mix = 78CF of Helium / 21CF of Oxygen / 161CF of air (21/79). 78CF-He X $0.60 = $46.80 for the helium, 21CF-O2 X .10 = $2.10, 161CF of Air is free.

Total for your 21/30 fill to 3500psi = $48.90
Anything more, and they are ripping you off.

O2 purity is ABO (Aviator Grade)
Helium purity is HP (Ultra High Purity -- 99.999%)

Hook up a fill whip to your USB port, and I can E-mail you the fill

Actually, I have guys from Port St Lucie and Okeechobee that get together and bring multiple sets at once for fills. They save a ton compared to fill express.

Re: Trimix fill prices?

Wow we need to change the law and remove the ban on spearing with rebreathers. Thats a state law I wonder how it would be applied to Federal waters?

I was wondering the same. Are they charging them for % of oxygen already in air too? That would be funny. Where can I get one of emm USB ports???

Re: Trimix fill prices?

Great prices.!

I fill all my own stuff.
I pay .30 per cube of UHP HE and .06 per cube of UHP 02.
This is why I dive alot of 3mix, for me it is very cost effective.

Dago.
