Go pro mask help
I have been freediving with my go pro on a head strap but this is not the safest way to do so because it doesn't take much to knock it off your head. I want to test out one of the masks that have the go pro mount on it. The one thing I am worried about is the mask hurting me. I have used other masks that have built in cameras and when you dive more then 10 feet it will cause a very uncomfortable pressure point. I have even had a bump and bruise the next day. I also have buddy's who have used the go pro masks before and they say the same about the pressure point. I have looked around and found a variety of company's that make masks compatible with the go pro. Anyone have suggestions on a brand of mask I should try?

Re: Go pro mask help
I use a Riffe Mantis LV with the go pro mount attachment. I had to heat the mount and bend it a little since it is designed for the full size Mantis, but it is a comfortable option for a mask mount.

Re: Go pro mask help
So far these new Hammerhead masks have gotten good feedback from my customers, and it's actually low volume too

Re: Go pro mask help
I bought the Hammerhead mask on Friday and used it all day Saturday. Awesome mask. I also made a mount for my sons cressi mask.

Re: Go pro mask help
The hammerhead looks like it could work. I might try rigging up a mount to my cressi first and see how I like it. Thanks for the input!

Re: Go pro mask help
You can check out the octomask with the GoPro mount (integrated). It's pretty low volume and the mount is solid. I've been using it for the past year and it's amazing.
http://www.makospearguns.com/OCTOMAS...t-p/o301.2.htm The mask itself is comparable if not superior to some of the other top brands out there. Alternatively, you can just get that clamp: http://www.makospearguns.com/Dive-Ma...p-p/dmgpmc.htm Good luck ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Go pro mask help
I made the same mod to my mask that Humpinit posted above. It works great. The good part about it is that its only one screw and you can use one the right size so that it sits flush behind the frame. If the screw is a little too long and causes pressure, just add a couple ss washers on the front side. I added a small rubber washer between the mask and the mount so that theres no wiggle room and a lock nut on the back side so it doesnt loosen. Ive used it for about a dozen dives now and its solid.

Re: Go pro mask help
I just added a chinstrap to the standard GoPro head mount. Simple as taking a mask strap, and zip-tying it to the original head mount. Put on your mask, and then put the head mount over it. That way, you don't have to drill into your mask, and it's easily removed, which could help if the camera was entangled.
I took the idea from Mako, and a mask strap costs around $5 from any dive shop. Just poke a hole for the zip ties and you're done! Here's a video I shot with this setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoeloYC9TuQ
