5th Annual Lionfish Blast

Hello fellow divers and anglers

It is that time of year again! We are gearing up for our annual lionfish removal effort! We set new records last year and we are hoping to set new ones this year.

As usual, we will be holding a Diver's Meeting the night before our tournament kickoff. We will be holding a raffle at the meeting that is usually the highlight of the night. Come on out and hang out with your local dive community, help control the lionfish population, and win some of our great prizes!

The Lionfish Blast runs from April 20th - May 20th, coinciding with the FWC's Lionfish Awareness Day this year, always held on the weekend of Mother's Day. Last year we held a award and awareness event at Browns Creek Fish Camp on that last day of the tournament and had some tasty lionfish dishes and sides. Awards were given out after the final fish were counted.

We hope to maintain our prize structure, paying out to the the Top Ten finishers, and a guaranteed $1000 first place prize We will also have 2 Tournament within Tournaments(TWT), one for largest lionfish in decimal pounds, and one for largest grouper beginning May 1st. There will also be the Golden Peanut awards floating around as well as the Lionfish Blaster Award!

The format will remain the same. Single diver scoring, so you can go out with whoever you want and whenever you want for 30 days. Your best 2 Days will count towards the general tournament.

Keep an eye on Facebook and our webpage for our updates leading up to the tournament! Get your gear serviced and get ready for spring now! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sign up before March 1st and save $10 by signing up and paying online. Check out our Rules and Registration page on our web page.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring this tournament, please contact me for info or check our sponsor page at www.lionfishblast.com

Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: 5th Annual Lionfish Blast

Not that it matters that much in this case, but what's the effective range on that kind of fishing apparatus?

Re: 5th Annual Lionfish Blast

Federal class 3 firearm license to start........ due to the suppressor.........

And a new pair of ear drums.

Full metal jacket bullets, maybe 3 feet.

5.56 or 223 is like 45 feet, according to testing and info on the net.

Re: 5th Annual Lionfish Blast

45ft sounds a lot if I may say, is this the replacement of the traditional speargun?
