Here you go. At 8PM the 17th is zero viz, the next high tide 8AM was great. Go figure.
No luck I missed four times. Twice on blue fish and twice on stripers.
The viz was great, BUT, still not as cleat as possible, so it took half a second too long to identify the blue before it turned away from me and It was a shadow when I shoot.
The second one my safe trigger was half jammed, which confused me thinking it was on safe when it was not. Another half second wasted. I shot the first striper from above and I always miss when I shoot from above and the second shot is in the video.

I still post because I wanted to try the session naked with no case. It works fine indeed with much better sound. But below 15-18ft there is no way you can get any color without a filter.

Wasn’t bad at squan, I put in a lot of time in the water though. When the vis was good and the water was cold I wasn’t seeing fish, when it was warm and shitty I was seeing them.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Long time no post.
Got in yesterday for my first dive of the year in south jersey. Vis was around 6-8, got a 37” 21 lb striper and a sheepshead. One thing I did notice is the tog population is way down where I dive. I only saw maybe 10 while usually this time of year I’d see 100+, just something I noticed as the water seemed eerily empty besides horseshoe crabs.

Weird, I saw hundreds of super fat Taugs in Barnegat inlet last WE.
Perhaps unusual current temperatures the day you dove ? surface water 0-15ft at high tide was not cold and 'felt' in the normal range to me last WE.

Been at it regularly since april. Vis has been pretty steady in that range in my area. Good year so far. No shortage of blackfish up my way. Good luck.

Glad to see you still getting in down there!

In the ocean up here we have spots that have been the best Tog rocks for numbers and size through spring/summer that went completely vacant for last few yrs. I mean completely empty! Nearby spots are still all holding Tog. Its downright creepy to drop into those spots that were insane and see none when you used to start running into them 15ft or more off the bottom there were so many. Nobody seems to have a plausible explanation either... everything looks same etc. just all the Tog are missing. I've never seen it happen before either. I have video from before and after I should put together into a clip because it's hard to describe how extreme the change was to people. This spot was the single best Tog spot I've ever seen through most of the dive season so its a real bummer and pretty scary.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Yooo what’s up guys! I know Randy this was my go to spot for big ones and it’s almost dead now. Shoot me a text in July Pete and if the clarity cooperates we’ll get a dive in. I sold my jet ski so we’ll be stuck to shore dives but there should be fish around then.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Good luck, it's not easy getting Pete in the water these days. All I did was let him know the vis was good and it went straight back to hell instantly!
