Whats up guys and ladies! I've been pole spearing for a little bit and now i want to get some new underwater weaponry!
![]() ![]() I'm looking for something under or around $200 that will meet my mostly close-to-shore needs. I'm usually at children's pool in San Diego, CA and the pole spear isn't really giving me the distance when i get into the deeper parts. So far these caught my eye: + JBL Magnum 38-Special Northwest Triple Sling Spear Gun mainly because of the good reviews and the price. + Its double sling model + Cressi Geronimo II 39.5 Inch Speargun .. i hear these cressi models have some not-so cool shafts and things (?) people tend to modify which adds more cost to the equation. Also havent seen reviews for this so i'm skeptical. + Do you have any suggestions? I'm just assuming that the 38in range would be right for me but i dont know. I won't be going deeper than 30' for now and will be staying pretty close to show. I also don't know if i need 1, 2 or 3 bands. Thanks for helping me out! -Sergie |

Check out www.makospearguns.com
Best low price gun I've ever used and the customer service is absolutely top notch. Not to mention the guns come with a 3 year no questions asked warranty |

I second Makospearguns, Just picked me up a 70 cm and they were all great help. Definitely less than $200 as well. Super great service all the way.

Re: Best speargun under $200
Thanks for the suggestions guys!
So I think I'll be going with the mako! Which one, the Predator Pro 90cm or Iconic Pro 90cm? I don't mind paying a little more for something significantly stronger but I don't know if I need it. I also need your help choosing Open muzzle vs closed muzzle (for predator model) and 1 band vs 2 bands. 2 bands will give me more range but will it be worth it with the extra effort? What do you suggest? Last edited by thesergie; 07-12-2011 at 11:14 PM. Reason: Added some details |

Re: Best speargun under $200
You want an open muzzle. For one band vs two, I like two but other like one.

Re: Best speargun under $200
Also shark fins allow you to have more options in wishbones. Might be a consideration if in the future you ever want to make your own bands.
