Gulf Council Meeting News

Hello, all. I have just returned from the Gulf Of Mexico Fisheries Management Council meeting in Mobile, AL.
I was fortunate to have conversations with most of the Council members, and I am encouraged by their responses.
We have the opportunity to have a strong, respected voice in the fisheries management process. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, we need to be committed to staying informed about all of the issues before the Council, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). NOAA Marine Fisheries
Informed opinions carry much more weight with the council than uniformed complaining.
An organized group of resource users that can voice their opinions clearly to Council members, NMFS staff (up to and including the Secreatary of the Department of Commerce, Don Evans, and even his boss, President Bush), FWC (up to and including Governor Bush) and other officials can have their voices heard and CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
It will not be easy or free.

Putting the plan into an understandable format as we speak, Tony. Your next step will be to join the organization(s). membership details will be available shortly. Your enthusiasm will become a valuable tool as we move forward. None of us has done anything quite like this before. Which just might be a good thing.
