Personal Best Gag Grouper

Went out with some friends Saturday to do some spearing. Anyone that knows me knows I have always wanted a 40 lb plus Gag,bam can you say Jagermeister, bam got one. This slob weighed in at 53.8 lbs,47” x 36 “ girth , what a fun day and Germany beat Sweden in the Soccer Tournament.
Let the trash talking begin, there is a new Sherrif in Town and his name is
Capt Harald.

All I have to say is...

May you store some of my gear in your garage?

Congrats! What a pig!!!
I shot and then screwed up and let get away what would have been my personal best Gag on Saturday. It was nowhere near your pb but I guess would have pushed 30. I am still kicking myself.

Re: Personal Best Gag Grouper

Ok Gag report, decided to hit one of my favorite wrecks with a buddy ,get to the bottom and fing cold ,85 on to 60 on the bottom all while wearing a 3 mil and no hood.
As Mr K Brueington from Spearfishing Specialties says , you have to dig for them.
I was shooting one of his Green Camo 5 Rhinos and I needed all of it.So I started digging in all the holes with my light that I thought a grouper would hang out in and sure enough I see a large tail,ah not round but square .No shot from any angle so I back up and look for a exit area ,yes there he is only a head shot through a angled crack in the wreck.I take my best shot in the wreck and the games begin, after a few minutes of mayhem he settles and I can see my shaft went through both his eyes. Not really good , so I go find my budddy and take one of his 2 guns and head back to Mr Gag.He looks at me and I motion follow, I put a much better second shot in him and he goes nuts again. After the dust settles I reach in with my knife and start tomahawking his hard head .Now I have to get this beast out of a angled crack, was able to finally get a stringer through his eyes and after running low on airand heading up my buddy was able to pull him out the last few inches.
As I was changing tanks to go back down here he comes with my slob, thanks Carl , I think he was more excited than me when he saw the size of him.Great Day out with friends , its cold but they are there go get m.
