Tony, I chose the bottom two choices. I use helium below 220 or so. Tony

Although I blend trimix in my garage and I use it for doing occasional salvage work, my spearfishing is at 120 ft or less using 32% up to 38% nitrox.

I shot this grouper yesterday in just 70 ft and less than 5 miles off the coast. The cost of fuel (around $200 a trip) to reach deep water (deeper than 130 ft) keeps me within 20 to 25 miles of Destin Pass.

Yeah. I saw the date John when the thread bumped last night after someone took the poll. But, I thought 100 days Tony had asked a good poll that is still relevant today that I must have missed years ago, so I checked boxes in the poll and posted an explanation.

I wish I had the easy helium access at Fill Express that you Broward County guys have. However, I have not been doing the 300 feet plus dives lately, so no need. I certainly do like the clear headed aspect of helium though.

John, do you guys partial pressure mix your trimix or use banked trimix? Tony

I know locally here that Jupiter Dive Center now has partial pressure mixing for Trimix should I need it.

Depends on the shop, Pompano Dive Center banks 21/35 so that is the start mix for any other standard mix (18/45, etc), and I think Fill Express banks 21/35 also, Brownies SouthPort PP mixes. So, yes, life aint bad, 3 shops within 15 min of my home (more or less) that I can get mix from.

BTW, got your message but you garbled you number.

Re: Poll:How deep do you actually spearfish?

I took the poll just now. I was shocked at myself and 1 other person 120-200 on he. Just shows the quantum leap in the application of he over the last 4 years, if all the previous responses were from 2009. Or maybe you lot just like the deep air?

I can hunt around 40-45 freediving. So far on SCUBA I've only hunted down to 60' or so.

I freedive deeper than I scuba, but on scuba usually about 75 to 90 ft, freediving I guess about 90 to 120ft
