Did you notice how I cheated and used the clip of you from the prior Week? I pretty much never do that, but just don’t tell anyone.

As for the type of jacks, they may be almaco - I don’t normally target them so they are just background noise to me, I guess I just look at them as baby amberjacks.

Looks like Almacos...good groceries, especially the smaller ones like that size.

Re: Spearing off jupiter

JfJf, not considering the use of scuba (I am a freediver), it is a good video. Seems like you were having a lot of fun!

Also thanks for helping getting rid of those pesky lionfish. We still don't have them in Spain (as far as I know) but I bet it will be a matter of time before they show up.

Mikal_24, considering your use of compliment, it was negated by your adversarial comment on hunting preference.

Thanks for coming and sharing jfjf, great video! 2/3 predictions ain't bad, clear water (on top) no current but bad viz. I'm only as good as my sources, dang college kids.

Re: Spearing off jupiter

Jim, you give the term " hunter gatherer " a whole new meaning :-) fish, lobster, a hat, a piece of metal... plus you dive equipped like a Christmas tree... You are the Boss
Sea Bass, I do not think that Mikel 24 meant anything bad , with his comments, it simply is that the US are one of the very few countries where spearfishing is allowed on scuba and everybody who lives somewhere else is surprised to see it... In all the mediterranea basin Scuba spearing has been banned decades ago... without a real benefit, I must say, as the region is progressively being desertified thanks to very destructive methods of professional net fishing and absence of rules and controls.

Re: Spearing off jupiter

Thanks, you know anybody can BUY a hat.

If we can eat stuff we find living under dirty rock ledges in the ocean, we certainly can wear a hat we found there. Anybody need a nice grappling hook and chain?

And on the theme of regulations. On that day, I saw a bunch of fish we couldn't spear: jewfish, snook, hogfish and in 6 weeks, black grouper.

Re: Spearing off jupiter

I'm with Alessandro. Mikel didn't mean to cricticize. I know him and he's a cool guy.

Some of us are just not used to see scuba spearfishing.

However, I enjoy to see some videos. There's very good people around.

BTW, in Panama, Almaco jack is much more appreciated than snapper.

I'd have to agree w/ them. To each their own but, IMO, once you cut the fishy red vein out of Snapper you're left with some bland white meat. Almaco's have a better consistent tasting meat, although they probably don't freeze as well.
