Out of Tarpon springs 12/18/18

No diving.
Just fished. Been hearing crappy viz stories and believe them.

Bout 10 miles out. 30 foot of water. Water looked milky. Fished dead frozen sardines and some small live pinfish. Limited out at 9:30 am off one spot.
Many thanks again Dkay for another great trip, this time on top of water!

Biggest gag 28.5". Lot of fun. Gag after gag.

Maybe my divers should of put a sardine or squid on end of their spear tip. When we went out of JP on 12-18.

NICE haul! That doesn't happen very often. Curious...did you bring them in with the sardines before switching to the live pinfish? Dirty water and hungry fish is usually the needed inputs for this kind of action.

Re: Out of Tarpon springs 12/18/18

Yeah, we started with dead to get the scent in the water and some scales floating around. Pinfish we had were small. Caught as many keepers on live as dead bait. "Limiting out" nowadays on gags at 2 per person isn't Earth shattering, but rules are rules. Only went through a half box of sardines and some live bait. Do agree that 6 keeper gags in 90 minutes in 30' of water is pretty cool though! With all of us last minute taking day off of work, nice reward for strategizing to get out before the major front. Fish knew it was coming and they chewed hard on the morning bite.
