question about tech guy/ DIR diver regulator clip

So I keep noticing that the DIR or tech divers always seem to have a clip on the regulator they breathe - whether its a long hose secondary or not. I was wondering what its purpose is.

Re: question about tech guy/ DIR diver regulator clip

all the guys i know that have a clip...including me...have it on a long hose. either a 5ft or 7ft hose, basically to keep the regulator clipped off close to the equpment while on the boat to keep it from going a-stray.

7ft of hose is alot to keep track of. but clipping the 2nd stage off on the D clip on the shoulder strap keeps it out of the way.

You talking about this one.?
I would say that it is for stowing the reg on your right shoulder when using your decompression gases. Maybe.?

Thanks Dago. That makes sense too. I'm gonna put a small bolt snap on my regular setup to keep my second stage from falling in the sand on beach dives.

Also, if you end up breathing off of your back up and shutting down your primary (long hose) because they are on different sides of the twin manifold, then you can clip your primary off to a D ring to keep out of the way.
