Re: Trapped Underwater Fighting a 65lb+ White Seabass (Video)
One of the reasons I've been reluctant to carry my knife with the lanyard over my wrist is because I've lost the knife due to the loop being too loose. I expressed this to Billy Mac, saying that the lanyard had to be long enough to hold the knife in place hence why it was too loose for my wrist.
He suggested cinching it in the middle with some fancy piece of metal (what was it called?) but seeing it cost money I opted for the cable tie route. Not sure how it'll work but here's a pic.

A constrictor knot with some string may last longer, especially if you get a friend to help you stretch the bungi as you tighten the constrictor knot.

But also remember, that Now you got a piece of rope that can get tangled in that Shooting Line, Reel Line, Float Line, that's attached to your wrist, and will be impossible to reach with your knife.. not a fan.

Its called a hog ring. What does one cost? A dime? But maybe the cable tie will work too.

Re: Trapped Underwater Fighting a 65lb+ White Seabass (Video)
why don't you just tie a 'granny knot ' (single overhand knot) in it right where you have the zip tie?
I've got some bungi material I can kick you next time you stop by buddy.

hog rings seem like a lot of hassle. unless you get right size they would over crimp and have to be ground down to be flush. thinking about it hog rings dont clamp flush tip to tip . the end tips clamp side to side if that makes any sense.
found a pic of a hog ring clamped (properly) |

The sides are offset. There is a special tool for clamping them, but I've never used one. I just get them started closing around the bungee using the curved jaws of pliers. Then when the sides are almost closed around the bungee, I use the flat jaws of the pliers to finish clamping tight. Quote:

(bit of derail) Hey Tanc, I'll trade you some bungie for info on Australia. I got a trip coming up that includes Cains, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaine. Got any contacts for spearing, or other suggestions on those places?
if not, you can still have some bungie, haha! |
