"Something's Fishy with Yellowtail Snapper"

Well..."they" are on the prowl to create more rules...
I assume others on here have received the same E Mail....

Gulf Council Asks for Information on Yellowtail Snapper

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council would like to gain a better understanding of yellowtail snapper in the Southeast region of the United States. It is seeking information from anglers and divers about trends or "strange things" that scientists and managers may need to know.

A scientific stock assessment of yellowtail is scheduled to being in February of 2019, and the Council would like to know if you have noticed anything "fishy" about yellowtail, or yellowtail fishing, in recent years. The information provided will help inform scientists and managers as they formulate a current understanding of the yellowtail stock.

Please visit our "Something's Fishy with Yellowtail Snapper" questionnaire before February 8, 2019, to report anything you've noticed about yellowtail in the Gulf of Mexico.

Contact Emily.Muehlstein@gulfcouncil.org with questions.

Re: "Something's Fishy with Yellowtail Snapper"

It's amazing. they can effectively close down barracuda with near ZERO data and no studies, using only anecdotal information from a select few people (in the keys and on the east coast).

But all the bitching and moaning and videos of a gazzilion jewfish causing all kinds of problems is worthless information, unusable since it is non-scientific, anecdotal wives tales from redneck divers and drunk fisherman.. Sorta anyway.

it's not jewfish eating all our fish. it's us. jewfish have always been around. 20 million people living in florida is something new. as much as i wish there was an answer to solving our fisheries problems that doesn't involve limiting our catch i don't see any other way to rebuild our overfished fisheries.
