Re: My Largest Lobster ...ever
What’s the point of capturing it if you’re not going to eat it? It stresses them out at the least. That bug probably died for bragging rights.

Have you ever seen how they are packed and shipped all around the world? They show up alive and placed in tanks where they are often kept alive for long periods of time before being conumed. Back in the 90's i donated a large lobster to Cabrillo beach Marine museum where they kept it on display for months. Finally they released it back into the Ocean. So they are pretty tough creatures if not abused too much.

So, based on your logic, talking lobsters out of the water, as when they are being measured, will get air into the carapace, correct? Using that logic, commercial lobster boats must be banned because all the short lobsters removed from the water, once released, would die as a result. From my experience, that makes no sense. I once straight out humiliated a moronic DFW warden in court who tried using that very argument against me. Right before dismissing the case, the judge just stared at the warden as if to say, stupid, stupid stupid!!!!

Heard it’s just a problem with the big ones. Just because they live long enough to market doesn’t mean it doesn’t increase mortality rates.
