Hey Mike,
Yeah, they have dropped the wind predictions, awesome, if things hold, I will be heading out. Let us hope...

Wouldn't a 6' exchange of tide stir things up in the bays? If you are at sea, that would probably be a different story.

Is wind much of a problem if you have a zodiac?

Re: Monday (2-16-15)

The wind at this point is forecast to be over 10mph directly offshore, so the paddle out would be great, but the paddle back in really, really, difficult. If those gust predictions come to pass it could be impossible.

They are blowing against a direct westerly swell, and while the swell is not forecast to be high, the wind blowing directly opposite the incoming swell could make it steeper, sharper, and larger.

The zodiac should be able to handle it if the motor doesn't die, but I would not want to do it in a kayak. For me anything over 10 mph is a no go. But others may be stronger paddlers than I am.

So watch the wind forecast. It will be the deciding factor. Maybe Barview would be the better option.

Just my two cents, others may differ. Be safe out there.

Re: Monday (2-16-15)

Yeah, anything over 10mph-ish, while not impossible, is best avoided. Whatever your method of getting out there is, the high wind and what it creates, drastically change the potential for things to go wrong. Really a huge difference. If you notice the % number on MSW, it is very low, which means it's not a done deal yet...

Water 54 degrees. Vis was descent for BV. Piles of nice fish in the 35-40ft range. No wind. Dead calm.
