New Zealand in June

Hello!

I'll be visiting New Zealand this June and have every intention of diving and hopefully chasing some fish.

Does anyone recommend any charters or so for 1-2 divers? I have no problem jumping on a boat with other people I just want a little direction as to where to go.

Also, is shorediving worth it? I'm from California and that is what I mostly do

cheers,
Gilles

Gonna be cold as **** in june dude.
I lived on the north island for 6 months and dove a whole lot of it.
The further north you go at that time of year the better your chances at a good fish are.

Kia Ora!
Oceandiversity is the dedicated Spearfishing charter which operates North of Auckland on weekends. Blair, the skipper, charges NZ$1000 for a full day or $200 per diver although might give you a winter discount. Water temperature around Auchland 14C on average. Snapper and even yellow tail is your fish plus blue moki and green bone.
Good luck

Get in touch closer to when you are coming and if you get up to the Bay of Islands we can get you out as we dive most weekends weather permitting.
June is still good diving with water temp still around 16C ,viz is normally good, plenty of crays around plus kingys are still hanging around in certain spots and generally in great condition.

Re: New Zealand in June

Depends on your tolerance to cold. June and July in NZ there is often good blue water at the offshore islands and even on the coast. Far north has good beach dives. June is often good for big snapper in the shallows and there are still some big yellowtail around.
