Angry Baja, no more yearly fishing licenses

I am beyond pissed off... My yearly fishing license is expired... I now have to pay 23.50$ per week to fish. I will have to pay this 6 times!

If this is they way it's going to be in the future. I will find more inviting countries to winter.

Things move so slow in Mexico, their "transition" period is sure to take years.

From what I understand, it's just because the administration change and they're not up to speed yet. But, I could be wrong. Just pay the price, and smile.

Re: Baja, no more yearly fishing licenses

Yeah, even the mexican officials turn their eyes... if it was a transition thing, there would be no license at all. why would it be any more difficult to issue the yearly than the weekly? lol.

The real problem is for mexicans... as of right now, those who do no have licenses cannot be expected to be able to fish in Mexico. The charter guys are freaking out.

Only in person, in San Diego... not very useful for the Mexicans or people already in Mexico.

The people working at the office are wonderful. They usually process applications and issue permisos on the day received. They don't care if you're Mexican, American, Canadian, or where you're located. All you need is money. Good luck.

Re: Baja, no more yearly fishing licenses

I spoke to the officials in La Paz. The governors of each state have to sign an agreement with the federal government.

I'm sure these signatures come at a price, and until each governor gets his "way", the federal licenses will only be good for a day or a week...

Welcome to Mexico.

Fishing without a license is poaching, even in Mexico. Hook and line from shore does not require a license, everything else does. Respect the host country, buy a license.
