Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
Aloha! Moved to da country this past month. Been surfing for many years; free-dived a few times; and I've eaten a lot of fish so decided to try out spear fishing.
My brother is visiting from mainland so we have been partnering in Kane'ohe bay. Looking forward to some big fish! Greg |

Re: Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
Got a RIB last month and I've been going out past the sandbar. Swam with a big tako today, well over 8 lbs. My wife and I don't eat 'em, so let him go his own way. Beautiful to see out there.
Now, if I could just get those kumu to hold still for me... |

Re: Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
Olomana...CHEEHO! Nice title! One of da bestest songs evah! Olomana, old school kine. Nothing like kanikapila with kiho'alu aftah one long dive sesh and hearing my bruddahs start fo' play Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u joining in with every slack key tuned guitar in da house. Sacred tunes brah that bring back memories of Hana Buttah Days up country Big Island and driving windward O'ahu. KEEP COUNTRY COUNTRY! Sorry I digress from spearing...but your title wen get me!
Live every day on island with gratitude fo Hawai'i Nei and it's people. Living on mainland now and people jus' nevah get it...all about money, cars, houses, status. Go figah! Nothing compares to waking up early and knowing paradise is outside your door, and watah awaits jus' steps away. Safe and prosperous diving. Aloha, Makoa

Re: Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
I went into uke store in town and when I told the guy where I live he stopped and handed me the uke and said, "Play it braddah."
Everybody knows that tune. |

Re: Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
Aloha,
Those Kumu's I jus watch for da tail flash, da white spot is very Hi-Vis. A lot of times when they in da hole going in and out when they turn around that spot flashes, and it catches my eye. I try get right above da hole drop straight down, and pull what I call da "peek a boo" shot. A lot of time if u come at a angled assault they see u coming, and will go deeper in da hole, hit da back door, etc... As for da ones swimming around, jus gotta lye and wait them out on da bottom. They come eventually. Anyway dive safe my Braddah... Aloha ke akua, Rueben |

Re: Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u
Right on. Now slack tune your Uke and play it kiho'alu style and even Kanaka Maoli will stop and give props! I had one bruddah from the group Imua (Sam) hear me playing slack key uke and he showed me some insane slack key style tunings for uke that only his family and kupuna had. Slack key uke still stay small kine. Not like guitar that everyone knows.
Anyway, shootz...putting on Olomana right now! Aloha
