Fry some bacon, use the grease left to fry a couple of eggs. then saute onions, garlic, green pepper, yellow pepper and maybe a chili pepper of choice with the same bacon grease. once you have it nice and hot put your trigger filet in it and finish cooking the veggies with the fish. Serve eggs over the fish and ENJOY!
You are welcome!
Thanks for the recipe defintly guna be trying this!!!

Hey Toni...I know but getting stopped in State waters and having an FWC that knows his fish could detain you for a while !! We don't see many at all around Daytona or Ponce.

One of my favorite fish to see while diving, just too awesome looking to shoot.

I agree. Frankly, I don't understand why anyone would want to shoot spadefish or a queen trigger. They are just too docile and beautiful to needlessly take their lives. I am sure some folks will vehemently disagree with my post but if so, just flame on.

Re: trigger fish

More for me,no problem.I rarely shoot cubera or mango as I don't really care for them much.Same for kingfish.

Quite interesting - how funny and controlled we human males are - when a beautiful blond walks in the room we fall all over her, never mind the girlfriend -
Shoot a monk fish? Dam straight - the ugly bastard tastes Great!!!

I'm sure the female monk fish likes the male monk fish...

Kill a baby calf for veal? you bet - just don't show us...

I'm all for it boys and girls just an observation.

Re: trigger fish

Not to derail, but Queen Triggers are ANYTHING but docile. Sure, they look pretty, and sometimes look friendly; but put a bad shot on a hog or grouper that is less than double the size of the queen and watch what happens when it swims off your polespear. Queens will tear the thing apart. Good thing is they are better at locating the missing fish than we are, so you can usually get the fish back.

Re: trigger fish

Spade fish as table fare has been discussed a lot on this forum. Most people don't eat them, some say they're good. The meat is soft and has huge blood lines, if you cut out all the blood and fry it immediately, its not horrible. I would rather buy a hamburger.

Your'e better off baking them in clay and throwing the fish out and eating the clay !! We use them for locating wrecks because they are always on the surface of the wrecks
