Interesting Finds

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where a diver could post a pic or video link to interesting "finds" they've made out here. Here's a pic of a large anchor I recently found out deep. The anchor was between 12'-14' long (2.5 gun lengths) and was probably 100 years old , more or less.

You can actually see 2 big Carbo's on it along with a big Gag and 2 big red grouper.

Re: Interesting Finds

Looks like it was wedged in the crack? Cool to think about who may have lost it.

Re: Interesting Finds

That is one helluva anchor. Looking forward to seeing more finds on this thread.

@John, just let it sit in a bowl of rice.

I wish I had something interesting to share, but nothing yet. Well, I can tell you when I first got certified I carried a rolled up mesh bag in a pocket as I had visions of me finding treasure while diving with Jessica Alba... Haven't seen either, the treasure or Jessica so I leave that mesh bag at home now.

...or take the mesh bag with you to bag her. Quite a catch.

Re: Interesting Finds

I've collected quite a few items. I dove a local fresh water swimming hole area that produced some interesting stuff. Beyond nice new expensive anchors/chain/rope my most interesting was a nice cutting board that apparently fell off a someone's expensive boat. It had rubber skids on elevated blocks. I've used it for my kitchen cutting board ever since. I found it in the keys, Hawk's channel, free diving for lobster. I'm not sure of the name of the material but it's hard, sands nicely, white, cleans easily, and is heavy.

Re: Interesting Finds

I would imagine the generator failed to start before it ended up on the bottom.
