Freedive Watch Advice

Hello y'all!

I am looking for a dive watch at a reasonable price and wanted your opinion/expertise on the matter. I am open to hearing suggestions on models and brands.

My budget is kind of low (roughly $250) since it is my first dive watch, I would like to start off simple. The Garmin Mk 1 looks insane but far too expensive. So I was looking at the Aqualung i200 or i300. Not sure what the difference is but they both cost $199 on Amazon and they seem to have some pretty neat functions and features on the freedive mode. (I read through the user manual)

So if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Re: Freedive Watch Advice

It is worth looking around as at times some diving watches can be on special and you may find an outlet offering the same watch for a hundred or so bucks off for a brand new watch in its original box, etc. I bought a Cressi Leonardo that way, but a couple of weeks later the price went back up, so the prices don't stay down. If you keep looking around then you get to know the asking prices and will know when the sale is genuine and not just a marketing ploy.

The Pyle is a low cost dive watch and is worth a try as sooner or later you may want to move up to something else. Watches receive clonks and knocks in the underwater environment so are not going to last forever in any case.

I have been using the Suunto Mosquito computers for years. I recently purchased an Aqua Lung 200 for $199 at Leisure Pro. Leisure Pro is an authorized AL dealer, whereas Amazon is not. Therefore if you need warranty, LP is your best bet.

As to functionality, I have used it twice and it worked similar to my Mosquitos.

Call and ask for the bro deal. Not sure if they still do it but I got that watch for like $250 and had it for years.

I have a Mares Smart Apnea and I love it. I've changed the battery (by myself) 3 times and it still works. Neither Suunto, Oceanic or Salvimar lasted that long.
And the numbers are quite large. That's a selling point for an oldie like me.
