What length shaft is this? (proper measurement of threaded shafts)

A threaded shafts measured to the end of the thread or just to the end of the shaft where it transitions into the thread?

Its is a 5/16 shaft with a threaded end. it has a mori slip tip on it. The pics show how i measured it.

It seems that the only sizes (riffe makes anyways) are 65 and 72". However this seems somewhere in the middle, but i have no idea how to measure.

someone please clue me in here.
