Wahoo Dreaming Feb2012 +++VIDEO ADDED+++++
Here is the VIDEO.....thanks ryang for editing the head cam footage for me quickly and well put together
http://vimeo.com/36380577 I got the call from Lars that the weather window was gonna be for Wed(last week) and despite the bumpy seas we were going to give it try knowing that we had a good chance to get into them. Ryfish had work chewing at his ankles so we called RyanG from our crew to shoot his first Hoo on this trip. The confirmed crew was Lars, RyanG, John and myself. The run offshore was really nice in the 23' Albury that belongs to Lars buddy John. We found the conditions were awesome as predicted and and we let John and Ryan jump in on the first drift. The guys saw some fish but didnt get a shot but we all KNEW today held potential for a GOOD fish. After two drifts John and I switched spots and I got in to cut chum for Ryan and work the flasher..... Wasnt long before a quality Hoo slid in headed for the flasher, Ryan sees him coming and slips under the surface and makes a gentle approach on the fish to allow him a good solid shot. Ryan let him have it and he blew my mind with a spine shot that sent his FIRST Hoo into a violent shake before he fell to the bottom of the floatline DEAD!!! Amazing to STONE your first!!!! Lars, John and I all connected with great fish too and we were able to boat 5 total before late afternoon. 2nd&3rd fish story: Lars had his fish fighting on the float while RyanG and I shadowed him from the boat, he called for a kill gun and then announced the arrival of a few more nice fish that came in to investigate all the action. I quietly slid off the side of the boat with only my RA120 reelgun and was greeted by a BIG fish just below me 25ft down. I knew the shot would need to be really close up to engage the flopper on such a big Hoo so I sank down on him like a cloud of death and shot him straight down into his back along the centerline from less than 10ft. The reel exploded into pieces after dumping completely in seconds leaving the entire reel line trailing the fish, I made a hot pursuit and after 200ft streak across the surface I was able to dive down 30ft and grab the end of the line and make it back to the surface before being dragged all over the ocean often 20ft under the surface before the fish tired. i worked him up and grabbed his throat before it could catch it breath again. After a few pics and some UW video i boated the fish. Since we had all taken a nice fish each and the waves were anything but easy going we decided to head in and get to cleaning the boat and fish. Here are a few pictures from the trip, we never put a scale to my BIG Hoo and the jury is out with the "Official Guess" LOL let me hear your guess.... RyanG has been editing our GoPro film from the Day so stay tuned to the post as he plans to share it after he finishes up.

You guys are the 'Hoo Whisperers, for sure!
I'll bet Ryfish is kicking himself. I'm guessing 84 lbs...What did I win?

"I'll bet Ryfish is kicking himself."
Don't cry for Ryfish Argentina!!! He sucked it up despite the nasty seas on Sunday and followed the fish report we shared with him to find 2 more nice fish. I'm sure when he reads this post he will toss up a pic of the fish he got. He has shot so many Hoos the last 10months that he doesn't need to worry about what I kill on any given Wednesday.
