Re: halibut in SoCal

Any beach where you have rocks that meet sand will provide you with halibut. And the reason that people aren't posting what you would like to hear is because people work hard for there fish, and halibut are hard to find. So people have there honey holes here and there, and they wont give them out because they are so hard to find. So my advice, as I was in this position earlier, is to get out in the water and look for yourself and get a honey hole of your own. There is no substitute to time spent in the water. Good luck.

I spot that year after year produces flatties, I was going to give you my old spot, but by now another diver may be calling it home.

Malaga Cove is a good place to start. Easy access, sand and structure, and if you can find good visability, legal Halibut. This is no secret, it's found in several publications on where to find Halibut. Hope that helps as a start.

Welcome to this site. Most people on here at not tolerant and understanding when you ask a question like that (few exception of good hearted people) . They tend to be cynical, sarcastic, rude and unhelpful. I bet most of them are christians or have a religion of some sort that teaches compassion and understanding but they don't practice and apply what they learn in church/temple/synagogue/mosque. It's hard to promote awareness and to advance the sport when you got idiots like that responding with their smart-ass comments and suggestions.

Ya Q, you're such a A-hole!!

When this sport fails it's you and your jokes fault.

This isn't a comedy board, this is 100% serious, 100% of the time.

If you want to laugh and have a good time go to a church or something!

p.s. Lighten up vnxdragon, for christs sake you're a dragon dude. BTW what type of dragon are you?? And are the flying type? Those are the best!

p.s.s. google earth kid, fly around look at coast line and find where sandy bright areas meet rocky dark areas, woop there it is.
