Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Dove Leo today. Mid-tide when we entered the water and the vis was ok at first 10' in patches. Stayed in the water about an hour and then the tide dropped and vis went to shite. It was a pretty nice day when we first got in. Got checked my armed lifeguards after washing off the gear. They were cool...asked if we got fish etc etc. Not much life seen. Some perch, one rockfish, and a school of baby 2-3" calicos. Do the momma calico stay nearby after the kids are born?

Went out with 3 other guys at County line this morning in an inflatable zodiac (thanks Leo). Vis was 5-8ft 10 in some spots. Got a 13in perch and Kevin got a octopus. Also go stoped by armed lifeguards just checking licenses.

Afterwards i hit Leo Carillo. It was pathetic, i could barely see my spear tip. Good trip SoCal. The surf zone and hanging out was fun.

FWIW Bonine works extremely well for me. Dramamine works good too, but only the drowsy formula. Non-drowsy doesn't have much of an effect for me. I HAVE to take that stuff too, otherwise I'll be out of the water in 30 minutes.

Here's what the conditions were like at Leo.

Fishy just below the bands

Zebra perch in this one.

Thanks! Gotta get some of that. I got no problem shore diving, first time on a boat that small in 3-5 ft swells :/

Laguna, we finished up around 1 yesterday and the tide was so low when i went in. I literally could barely see my tip. It was surgy and cloudy as well.

Im going to Leo Carrillo around 12ish on friday if anyone is interested. The fog was super thick during my afternoon commute so im hoping it breaks soon. If anyone is up, im cool with launching freedivers again on Sunday anywhere in the 'Bu.
