Good trip after all

The forecast wasn't perfect, and we had to wait out a few storms. Big thanks to my dive buddy for convincing me to go ahead.

After drinking a cup of coffee at the lighthouse bakery, we launched and headed out in flat calm seas. The cloud cover kept it cool, and we were hoping for good vis and fish.

We tied up, my buddy jumped in and assured me that the murk stopped eventually, and cleared up real good. 4 good snapper took less than 30 minutes, got a couple of Mangrove, and I bent my gatku on a nice Jack Crevalle. Yes I eat them. the top section makes great "scaloppini Milanese" when sliced real thin, rolled in Italian bread crumbs, and fried.

Tangled up mess.

We had a really good trip. Wont be going for a couple of weekends. We need a rest, and so do the fish.

Re: Good trip after all

hey, great to see you`ve gotten to go out again and brought some tasty fish home.
How`s that Gatku treating you? now new world record so far? Do you think a pole spear like that is worth the money? i have a JBL aluminium one, which I have only used maybe like a handful of times, but have been eyeballing the fancier pole spears, although i probably have to admit to myself that unless i live somewhere close to the ocean, it will barely ever get used

Hello Paolo!

Went by Sterling's old Place last week (on Mon Louis) and started missing the old crew pretty bad.

The GatKu is nice because it has a little weight to it and punches pretty hard. But I will say this, I have the long JBL Aluminum (8') and it has killed a lot of fish. I have had it probably since the 80's. The only modifications I made were the addition of a heavier band, and a slip tip. That is Austin's pole spear. That way if he loses it, no big deal.

I an still using that shaft that you left! used it yesterday!
