Did you hear about the GoPro Hero 4 that is coming soon?
GoPro Hero 4 is a camera, which weighs just 100 grams and has the potential to seamlessly record full HD videos. If you want to compromise at the resolution, videos can be recorded at a faster rate of 240 FPS at 720px and 120 FPS at 1080px resolution.
The camera is waterproof and lets the users record videos and take multiple snapshots at a higher frame rate if they want to settle for extremely low resolution. This will come in handy to capture insane moments from various action sports. Yes! This camera is the best there is and is used by extreme sports lovers and adventure freaks who love to make recordings of their insanely active moments. The GoPro Hero 4 is an action camera, which has no substitute. It is easy to handle and comes along with an attachment clamp that can be used to attach it to almost anything from ski poles, surfboards, car bonnet, skateboards, bikes, etc. The camera captures incredibly smooth videos in high motion, and is resistant to all weather conditions – be it rain, hail, or storm – the GoPro Hero 4 is your best friend for anything that is sports-related. Reports state that the GoPro Hero 4 will be able to record in 4000px resolution at 30 FPS. The camera will also be featuring a 13 MP photo sensor, which can be used to shoot pictures and videos in most lighting conditions. Addition features that the camera will be hosting are electronic image stabilization, enhanced MCTF and WDR Tone-mapping. More solid Intel on this Hero 4:
http://petapixel.com/2014/09/25/gopr...touch-display/ Two things I like about this: 1.) I hope the unit fits in my existing deep water housings built for the 3 and 3+ - The article says "Regarding the issue of backward compatibility, the Black and Silver will both be compatible with all GoPro mounts and accessories." 2.) The frame rate at 1080p has been increased up from 60 frames per second to 120 fps which is better for slow motion shots. |

The founder of GoPro made the list this year too.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/kerryado...as-wealthiest/ "In percentage terms, Nick Woodman, founder of wearable video camera company GoPro, jumped the most, with a 200% increase in his net worth since last year, to $3.9 billion. GoPro went public in June; the stock has been on a tear as more people buy GoPro cameras and strap them onto bike helmets, surfboards, scuba gear and more." |

Let's wait and see if the image quality for HD 1080p on the Hero 4 is really any different with this new model as compared to the 3+. We may find that the relative advantages of the Hero 4 is really not that great for most of our production work, especially underwater. I will consider getting a Hero 4 for drone shots if the 4k resolution at 30 frames per second really is much better for aerial details. I usually do drone shots using 1080p at 60 frames per second. It closed up $8.84, not at $8.84. It's a $90/share stock. Great success story, I wish the company all the best.

What other than increasing the frames per second capacity what other improvements did they make on the new model?

Re: Did you hear about the GoPro Hero 4 that is coming soon?
What they need to do is figure out how to increase battery life! I bought a battery pack that is supposed to double battery life, but it won't fit on a Hero 3+. I hate having to turn on and off the camera when spearfishing and a lot of times if wearing a hood and water is choppy you can't hear the beep ... so you have to turn it on and off many times and try to listen for the double beep. I have had quite a few instances where I think the camera is on and it isn't and ended up losing some nice footage. Would be nice to have something that will last 3 or 4 hours and simply keep the camera on all the time. Even when turning the camera on and off the battery will usually be drained before I finish my spearfishing session and go back on the boat.

Re: Did you hear about the GoPro Hero 4 that is coming soon?
doubling the battery life is like trying to double your range on your speargun. For what its worth, with all that the camera does, its battery life is already impressive. Try filming with a dslr, see how many batteries you go through in a 2 hour shoot. Its all about logistics when filming under water. And its a lot of hassle.
a 4 hour long clip of footage is a huge file. Sounds to me like you need to buy a gp2 for this application...I get great battery life and still plenty good 1080p footage.
