Re: Vacuum barrel pneumatic
Maybe there was already somewhere similar image, but here is how could be the shaft loaded in water, with Tomba kit. Shaft should be filed on one side to be as on image, to allow water to pass under the O-ring while being inserted in muzzle.
Shaft should be inserted into the muzzle together with cone ring, O-ring and the slider. After that holding the slider in muzzle, preventing it from moving forward during pushing in the shaft, shaft should be pushed in to make contact with piston. From that moment loading can be proceeded as usual. |

Re: Vacuum barrel pneumatic
How hard is it to install a tomba kit? Are special tools needed? I'm fairly mechanical but It sounds like you guys are speaking another language to me. I have a mares cyrano 850, and I'd love to get the most possible out of it.

Re: Vacuum barrel pneumatic
I, personally, would very much like to see some objective tests to prove these performance improvements claims. The thing that is not being mentioned is the additional friction that the barrel seal creates. This friction can potentially eat away all the benefits of removing the friction associated with water exiting the barrel. 25% better performance with one extra o-ring and a metal slider - why didn't the manufacturer take advantage of this low hanging fruit? This really sounds like all these fuel saving/power adding gizmos for car engines...

But the benefits are not in the power alone. In my opinion the greatest benefit is the silencing of a noisy weapon (a must on long shots), as well as lightening/balance of the gun. I assure you the power gains are also significant. I have a salvimar vuoto air 100 and it takes the 3 wraps of line(just over 6mtrs) in the time it would take to shoot a normal single rubber 100 railgun. The benefits are there, if you don't believe me you can see some of my testing videos. I havent heard any negative feedback regarding a conversion. |

Re: Vacuum barrel pneumatic
The standards air gun fills the barrel with water, the dry barrel kit does not.with that the spear doesn't have to overcome the resistance of the water in the barrel before the spear even leaves the gun. It's an almost frictionless exit. It mainly has to do with patent laws and it takes a lot of r&d.
It's also the same reason why car manufactures put out cars with average performance. It would be super easy to just slap a super charger on anything, but that costs money, time, and lots of r&d.... |

The poster has his videos here under the same name, plus there is a lot of info on the "Tomba" and other vacuum barrel kits and their effects on pneumatic speargun performance. |

Re: Vacuum barrel pneumatic
The quietest i have used is the tovarich kit, it has a chunky polymer muzzle.
Apparently mizalo makes a quieter one and stc has special silencing parts. The standard pneumo is Loud, but with a dry barrel it makes it as quiet as say a 16mm single band railgun with plastic track. My dive buddy complained one of my standard guns was to loud (cyrano 110), then when he heard the asso 90 with tovarch kit go off, he had the exact opposite reaction! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpn...CedpVeY77-vG1g |
